On the night of 28 Mar 2020 at approximately 2215 hrs, Uplona Army Camp received information regarding a landslide in Gujjar Mohr of Village Latifabad in which three houses & a cow shed were damaged. Rescue teams of Uplona Army Camp along with SHO PS Chandosa immediately rushed to the spot & started evacuating people.
A total of 43 people of five families were rescued and shifted to a high ground not affected by landslide. There were subsequently accommodated within the neighbourhood. Providing further relief, on 29 Mar 2020, Uplona Army Camp distributed free rations and other necessities to these affected families. On the request of the villagers tents were also provided so that the displaced families could safely store their belongings and luggage. The swift response by the Army Camp and valiant rescue efforts on ground ensured averting a major calamity.
