Assam Cricket Association members should be removed immediately

January 07, 2020 | UNI

Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi today said that the ruling administration of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) should be removed immediately after the T 20 cricket match between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held at Guwahati's Barsapara stadium, had to be abandoned due to wet patches on the pitch.
Lashing out at the ACA for its inability to hold the match, Mr Gogoi said "We constructed the fields, they have not been able to host the match even. They could not even dry the pitch. The pride of Assam has been hurt on the national and international stage. They should resign."
" BJP is showing us dreams of transforming Guwahati into a sports capital. They have not been able to construct a single stadium. They have Rijiju now at the Centre. But no, they have not been able to build a single stadium", Mr Gogoi said, slamming the BJP party for its alleged inability to develop sports infrastructure in the region.
Delving into the present situation in the country, Mr Gogoi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emerged as 'Hindu Jinnah' in the state.
"The BJP has shown their true colours of fascism and Hitlerism. They are imposing their will on the people. The people's trust is eroding fast - he is now being defeated in one state after the other."
Notably, ACA has come under flak from all quarters for its unpreparedness in drying out the ground and pitch after a spell of the shower before the start of the match yesterday.
It may be mentioned here that the ruling BJP in the state tried to counter the ongoing Anti-CAA protests by projecting the international cricket match. However, rain played the spoilsport.
Cricket fans on the ground gave slogans decrying the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at during the washed-up T-20 cricket tie between India and Sri Lanka.
