DGP compliments police, forces
The mobile internet services were restored in Srinagar and Budgam districts in central Kashmir on Tuesday evening after remaining suspended for six days.
Earlier, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar had stated that mobile internet will be open in Srinagar & Budgam today by 7pm.
“Regret inconvenience caused to students in studies,” he said.
The mobile and internet services barring BSNL postpaid and broadband services were suspended across the valley on Wednesday evening after the death of senior separatist leader and former Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani after a prolonged illness.
The authorities had also imposed restrictions across the valley as a precautionary measure following death of Geelani on Wednesday late evening to maintain law and order.
However, on Friday evening, the mobile and broadband internet services were restored in the valley after two days.
However, mobile internet service remained suspended for four days. The mobile internet services were restored on Monday evening in 8 out of 10 districts of Kashmir except for Srinagar and Budgam.
The authorities have also lifted restrictions after improvement in the security situation.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has complimented the Police, CRPF and Army deployments for highly professional handling of ground situation over the last 5 days.
The DGP said special restraint shown by police and security forces and very responsible conduct of the local people especially youth is highly appreciated.
"We have to move forward together to strengthen peace identifying the enemies of peace and weaning out the mischievous elements strictly dealing with them under law,” he said.
He said that most of the restrictions are eased including the internet and situation is fully normal in both regions of Kashmir and Jammu but under close watch.
