144 Bn CRPF organizes T-20 Cricket tournament

To encourage young cricketing talent and to tap their potential early, in order to provide them with a professional platform, 144 Bn of Srinagar Sector, CRPF, based at Dal Lake, organised a T-20 Cricket Tournament with the motto “Youth for growth” at Shaheed –E-Millat Stadium, Khan Bagh, Lal bazar. The week long knockout tournament saw great participation from locals teams. The Final match was played today between Green star cricket club and Quadeem 11 . Green star emerged victorious in this tightly fought finals and defeated Quadeem 11 by 4 rubs. Earlier, after winning the toss, Green star elected to bat first and made 157 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Quadeem 11 could make only 152 runs in stipulated 20overs. Shri Nadeem Ahmed Samdani Commandant 144 BN CRPF was the Chief Guest while SP Hazaratbal Zone and Commandants of neighbouring units graced the occasion. Trophies were distributed to the winners, runners up and player of the tournament. A huge crowd had gathered to watch the exciting finals and cheer the players. The locals lauded the efforts of 144BN CRPF in providing professional platform to local cricketing talents and expressed hope that such initiatives will continue and help build a harmonious relationship between locals and CRPF. The members of local Intizamiya committee, present on the occasion, also appreciated this gesture of CRPF, in engaging young generation.
