2 JeM militants killed, jawan injured in ongoing encounter in south Kashmir

Two of the three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, who were trapped inside a house, were killed and a CRPF jawan was injured in an ongoing encounter at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Tuesday evening.
This is the first Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched by security forces in Tral after centre withdrew unilateral ceasefire against militants in the state.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said, “Encounter going on at Hyena Tral, 3 important JEM militants trapped, 2 apparently neutralised. Good luck to our boys fighting.”
Official sources told UNI that following specific information about presence of militants at village Hayuna in Tral, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF on Tuesday evening.
However, they said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons.
The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter, they said, adding in the initial exchange of fire, a CRPF jawan was injured. “The injured was immediately taken to a hospital,” they said.
They said two militants have also been killed in the encounter so far, adding the exchange of fire is still going on.
They said additional security forces from nearby camps have been rushed and the area has been cordoned off to foil any attempts by militants to escape.
