April 25, 2024 | Mohammad Danish

Two soldiers were injured in a brief gunfight in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
A police official said a massive combing operation is underway in Renji forest area of Aragam, Bandipora to trace the terrorists who exchanged fire with the security forces in the wee hours.
"In the initial exchange of fire, two soldiers were injured. They have been evacuated to army hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable," he said.
The army pressed helicopters and drones into service for conducting aerial surveillance to prevent the militants from fleeing the area.
The Army said a joint operation was launched in the forest area on specific intelligence by agencies regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
"Based on specific intelligence by agencies regarding the presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched from 21 Apr onwards by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police in general area Mulkhyama Forest, Bandipora. The area was cordoned & search conducted, resulting in a firefight in the early hours this morning," Army's Srinagar based Chinar Corps posted on X.
It stated that the operation is in progress.
This month there have been two gun battles in Kashmir.
Two unidentified militants were killed on April 5 as the Army foiled an infiltration bid in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
Six days later a local militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed in an encounter at Frassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
