Traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway suspended

Traffic on the National Highway, connecting Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country was suspended this evening following slippery road condition, official sources said.
Meanwhile, Traffic Police this evening issued advisory for the movement of vehicles on Srinagar-Jammu Highway from tomorrow till further orders.
Sources said due to snow and rain during the day and considerable drop in the temperature this evening, the road has become slippery at Qazigund and Jawahar tunnel. They said as a precautionary measure traffic on the Highway was suspended this evening to avoid any accident.
Sources said large number of vehicles are stranded on both sides of Qazigund and Jawahar Tunnel on the Highway. However, traffic will restored tomorrow subject to weather and road conditions, they said.
According to the advisory issued by the Traffic Police, the cutoff timing for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) moving from Srinagar to Jammu at Lavdora, Qazigund will be 0800 hrs to 1500 hrs, for Heavy Vehicles from 0830 hrs to 1400 hrs and for trucks carrying fruits it will be from 0830 hrs to 1500 hrs.
Meanwhile, the Jammu to Srinagar cut off timing for Nagrota would be 0300 hrs to 1400 hrs for LMVs, 0300 hrs to 1300 hrs for Heavy Vehicles and 0300 hrs to 1400 hrs for oil tankers.
The Udhampur cut off timing for LMVs will be 1600 hrs while for Heavy vehicles will be 1500 hrs.
