PDP-BJP Govt has wreaked havoc with Srinagar City: NC
National Conference on Thursday lashed out at the PDP-BJP Government for wreaking havoc with Srinagar City by depriving it of vital infrastructural and developmental requirements and said there was no visible movement on the smart-city project despite frequent statements by the Government in this context. Addressing a high-level review meeting of Srinagar District at Party Headquarters, ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ on Thursday, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani condemned the acute shortage of essential commodities and supplies in the city and said the Administration’s ruthlessness was a cause of great suffering and misery for the people.
The NC Provincial President said every single promise made by the PDP-BJP Government with respect to Srinagar had been abandoned and broken. “This Government has ignored Srinagar District over the past almost three years resulting in a stagnation of developmental works and projects – even those that were started by the previous Government. It seems the Mehbooba Mufti Government is hell-bent to persecute the people of Srinagar by depriving them of their basic governance rights”, Nasir Aslam Wani said.
“The Government has turned a deaf ear towards frequent appeals by people from various areas of Srinagar. The power crisis has been further accentuated in the city due to inadequate and faulty power distribution infrastructure that wasn’t repaired and upgraded ahead of the harsh winter months. Our ration ghats are without basic supplies. Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the District are dysfunctional and without basic medical supplies and doctors”, Nasir added.
The NC Provincial President also reviewed various organizational activities and initiatives of the party in Srinagar District and asked the party leaders and office bearers to reach out to people, especially youth and involve them in the party activities aimed at alleviating public issues and grievances. The meeting was also attended by NC Srinagar District President Peer Afaq, Senior Leaders including MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, Irfan Ahmed Shah, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, Provincial President YNC Salman Ali Sagar, Ahsan Pardesi and Sabiya Qadri.
