Government has constructed 26,19 bunkers for the safety of people in Rajouri and Nowshera border areas of Jammu region. The work on other bunkers is in progress and will be completed shortly. These bunkers are being constructed to ensure safety and security of people during cross border firing, said an official.
‘In border district of Rajouri in Jammu Division of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 1,503 bunkers have been completed, while work on 2,407 is in full swing.’ This information was given in a meeting convened by District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad to review the progress on the construction of Border bunkers.
The meeting was informed that the Rural Development Department (RDD) has completed 870 out of 1,892 bunkers. It was further informed that work on 383 is at foundation level, 279 at superstructure level, 242 at slab level. Roads and Building (R&B) Department in Rajouri Division, has completed 63 bunkers out of 133 bunkers.
Similarly, in Nowshera Division of Rajouri, out of 1116 bunkers including 1,000 individual and 116 community bunkers, 535 individual and 35 community bunkers stand completed while work on 850 has been started. The DDC asked the concerned officers to work with devotion and added zeal and complete the works within already set deadlines. (KNT)
