Residents of around seven villages in Tral sub-district on Wednesday complained of poor cellular connectivity in their areas.
The aggrieved residents alleged that they are not able to make calls or use the internet properly even in this advanced era. “Because of this, we are facing hardships.”
The villages which face huge inconveniences in absence of network connectivity include Nagapathri, Panner Jageer, Begund, Panzoo, Ourigund, Kuchmullah & Nadar.
Talking to this reporter, Rameez Ahmed, a student from Panner Jageer village said that it is unfortunate that they don’t have internet connectivity in this day and age. “It is very unfortunate that when in almost every area network connectivity has been upgraded to 4G their area still lacks such facilities,” he said.
Rameez said that have often requested the authorities, including service providers like JIO and Airtel, to install towers in the area but nothing has been done so far.
Residents from other areas similarly expressed resentment against telecommunication authorities and said that their pleas have also fallen into deaf ears.
The residents appealed the concerned telecom operators to set up cellular towers in these areas to mitigate their problems.
“We are in the process to make every area accessible,” an official said, adding that during the past few months, towers have been installed in many areas of the sub district.
