The residents of Mominabad area of Srinagar Tuesday expressed strong resentment against the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for failing to install street lights and upgrade drainage in the area.
As per the inhabitants, the new SMC lights were not installed in lane no 9 of the colony, while lights were installed in other lanes by the authorities. They also said SMC failed to upgrade the drainage network in the area.
Abdul Majeed, said that SMC has failed to install traffic lights in the area, due to which they are facing problems in the area.
“During morning and evening hours, not a single street light is working properly in the colony,” he said.
He alleged some blue-eyed families in the colony are using the influential approach to SMC officials to install the lights in their locality. The officials are acting as a mute spectator on the issue, Majeed said.
“If the lights were sanctioned for the colony why SMC officials did not install them. It seems they are hand in glue with the influential people in other lanes in the area,” he said.
Apart from the street lights, the residents said the drainage has remained defunct in the area.
The residents appealed Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu led administration and SMC Mayor told look into the issue, so that it would be resolved soon.(JKNS)
