Anti-Corruption Bureau presented charge sheet (challan) in case FIR No.34/2014 P/S VOJ (now ACB-Jammu) U/S 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) and section 4-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Samvat, 2006 against accused public servant namely Manoj Bhagat S/O Sudesh Parkash R/O 111-B East Trikuta Nagar Jammu, then Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kathua, for demand and acceptance of bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- from complainant namely Sunil Sharma S/O Chaman Lal Sharma, owner of Health Care Medicos, D.H. Kathua/attorney holder of M/S Khajuria Medical Agency Kathua in connection with release of payment against the supply of medical items to District Hospital Kathua as per agreement executed by the firm with earlier Medical Superintendent Kathua after following codal formalities. The complainant alleged that he was harassed by the accused person on one pretext or the other who demanded bribe for release of due payment.
On receiving the complaint, case was registered and trap team was constituted which caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- on 24.12.2014 in presence of independent witnesses and trap team members. The accused person was arrested on spot and thereafter released on bail granted by Hon’ble Court.
Further investigation conducted by the Anti-corruption Bureau proved the allegations of corruption charges against Dr. Manoj Bhagat, then Medical Superintendent Kathua. After completing the investigation of case, sanction for launching of prosecution of the accused was also obtained from the competent authority and Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K produced charge sheet against the above mentioned accused person before the Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge Anti-Corruption Court Kathua on 04.11.2019.
