All Lives Matter

“After all, it is not the color of your skin that matters, but the beauty of your soul your good thoughts and kind attitude that matter the most.”
I don’t know George Floyd, 46-year-oldblack skinned American guy personally, but the news of his death by a white Minneapolis police officer who pinned him down with his knee that left him dead really shocked every conscious person. We have witnessed the instances where individuals lost their precious lives during any firing incident or interrogation. Such incidents are not a new in the contemporary societies. In fact, there are some parts of the world where such incidents became the mere matter of the course but, this particular case of Floyd is different in a sense that it took place in that part of the world which considered itself as the flag bearers of humanity.
In this postmodern stage of human life, where much has been talked about the promotion, advocacy, and guarantee of human rights in the battle against racism and also the abundant literature have been written in this regard, but this particular incident that took place on the streets of the USA put a big question mark against those states or institutions who claimed to be the preachers or the role models of humanism. These so called knowledgeable societies considered the terms like humanism, equality, justice and other related terms mere as concepts, when coming to its practical side, here, they are lagging behind in terms of its implementation on the ground. Now, the question is who will come here to defend the rights of deprived sections of society who are being assaulted or ill- treated by the self-claimed superior groups on the basis of color, creed , cast or faith. There will be no more prophets to come here, not the personalities like Nelson Mendalla take a rebirth and fight a lifelong battle against racial discrimination or against that negative thinking that made some individuals or groups worse than the wild animals because of their inhuman actions. If we take the analytical view within the national and international context, there has been an increase in ultraconservative groups that are propagating the ideology of hate and that ultimately give any individual or a group an undue favor to indulge in such inhuman acts.
In order to give defeat to this disruptive ideology that polarized entire human community into compartments and to break this stereotype symbolism- black to symbolize something ugly or bad luck; white for beauty and peace, there is a need to come out from this stereotypical thinking and to stop such unpleasant or rude actions that defame the entire human race , there is one straight path that is to return to the original religious texts, follow the footprints of those personalities who sacrificed the whole life for the sake of humanity. That provides the genuine guidance for the entire human society. As a human being, we have no right to make any discrimination on the basis of the color of skin and other physical traits or regional or cultural origin. Let me recall here the few lines from thelast sermon of our beloved prophet MohammadPBUH which says: “All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non- Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor does a black have any superiority over white except by piety and good action”.
A movement was launched under the banner “Black lives matter” in many states expressing their anger against this inhuman act.I Can’t Breath”- The last words uttered by George Floyd became the slogan for protestors who stood against this shameful act.“After all, it is not the color of your skin that matters, but the beauty of your soul your good thoughts and kind attitude that matter the most.”
