Altaf Memorial T-20 Police Premiere Cricket league organised by Ganderbal concludes

In order to provide a platform to the talented youth and channelize their energy in positive manner in sports activities, a T-20 Cricket League was organized by District Police Ganderbal which was inaugurated by DGP J&K Shri Dilbagh Singh-IPS on October 08, 2020 in Ganderbal District of Central Kashmir and the tournament was dedicated to the Martyr Mohammad Altaf Hussain under Civic Action Programme of J&K Police.

 SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, hosted the  closing ceremony of Police Cricket League T-20 and the officers who were present at the closing ceremony includes Additional SP Ganderbal Shri Feroz Yehya-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Dr Abdul Majid-JKPS, SDPO Kangan Shri Yasir Qadri-JKPS, DySP DAR Umar Rashid-JKPS, other Police Officers/ officials of Ganderbal Police. Besides, family members of Martyr Altaf Hussain were also present on this occasion. Further a huge gathering of spectators including members of civil society and media fraternity were also present on the occasion.

The Police Cricket T-20 League was participated by 64 teams from different parts of District Ganderbal and tournament was played on League-cum-knock out basis, among them two best teams viz; DCAG and Valley stars dragged out 62 teams out from the league and speared their places in the final match.

Valley Stars won the toss and decided to Bowl first, DCAG scored 123 all out in 19.4 overs. Ehsan and Showkat both knocked 20 runs, Rafiq Ahmad from team Valley Stars took 3 wickets and gave 31 runs in his spell. Valley Stars needed 123 runs from 20 overs to win, Valley Stars collapsed on 83 runs in 15th over. Sayim Mustafa delivered a magnificent spell he took 6 wickets and gave only 11 runs in 4 overs. DCAG won the final match by 39 runs. Sayim Mustafa was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant performance. He was also declared best bowler of the tournament as well as Man of the Tournament as he took 17 wickets and scored 262 runs in the tournament including three half centuries.

All the participants who were present on this said occasion paid two minute silence prayer in commemoration of Martyr Altaf Hussain. While speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal paid rich tribute to the Martyr Mohammad Altaf Hussain and also said that Martyr Altaf set an example of bravery and responsibility, the whole Police Department is proud of his valour and sacrifice as he fought till his last breath.

SSP Ganderbal said, Ganderbal Police would provide all possible support for channelizing the energy of youth towards positive direction. He also added, DIG Central Kashmir Range Shri Amit Kumar-IPS has also inaugurated a range level U-19 T-20 Cricket Tournament at S K Stadium Srinagar today, in which two teams of District Ganderbal viz Ganderbal Blues & Ganderbal Reds are also participating. The best performing two teams shall be selected to compete at Zonal/UT level, which will provide them a UT/National level platform he added. With this SSP Ganderbal wishes best of luck to the both teams of Ganderbal who are competing In this range level tournament.

 SSP Ganderbal while interacting with the participating teams passed a message that youth has power for a change and they should use their energy in positive activities which will also spare youth from the menace of drugs as it not only ruins his life or family but society as well. He also appreciated the efforts of Officers/Officials of Ganderbal Police and whole team of DCAG for making this Cricket League possible in a best manner.

 Later SSP Ganderbal distributed cash prizes, trophies, momentous among participants respectively.
