Meets Paharis leaders, to review Amaranath security & interact with many delegations
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived on two-day visit of Srinagar on Thursday evening.
Shah arrived at a Srinagar hotel where he is scheduled to meet local BJP leaders ahead of the remaining two phases of elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home Minister during his visit will review the arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra scheduled to begin in June.
A delegation of Pahari leaders met with Home Minister Amit Shah in Srinagar today evening.
Talking to media person after their meeting with Home Minister, the delegation members expressed their gratitude to both Home Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing their community's longstanding issues.
There is likelihood that Home Minister will chair security meeting to review security arrangements for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
The tight security measures have been put in place across Srinagar for HM’s two-day visit.
“Shah will also meet the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership and will discuss the political development that took place after the conduct of Parliamentary election in Jammu and Kashmir,” sources said.
He is also likely to meet some delegations from different quarters of the society during his visit.
Earlier BJP senior leader and former Minister Sunil Sharma said Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a meeting to review the arrangements for the Amarnath yatra 2024.
He said people from different walks of life which include Gujjar, Bakerwall, Dal dwellers; civil society members and others can meet him as there will be no meet restrictions in place.
Asked if a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation will meet the home minister, Sharma said there is no such meeting scheduled.
Any non-political or senior people can meet Shah but no political delegation is meeting him, Sharma added.
Shah is likely to be briefed about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir by the top security brass as the Lok Sabha elections will be followed by the annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to start on June 29 and conclude on August 19.
