Amit Shah visiting Srinagar today

May 16, 2024 | BK News Service

Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Srinagar on Thursday evening.
Sources said Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar tomorrow evening and will stay for a night.
The next day Shah is scheduled to meet various delegations including civil society members and BJP workers.
Shah’s visit to Srinagar comes amid the Lok Sabha polls being held across the country.
Of the five parliamentary seats in J&K, BJP contested only two seats in Jammu region but did not field any candidate from three seats in Valley.
The BJP has extended support to candidates of like-minded parties on the three LS seats in Valley --- Srinagar (central Kashmir), Baramulla (north Kashmir) and Anantnag-Rajouri (south Kashmir).
Srinagar LS constituency went to polls in the 4th phase on May 13, recording a voter turnout of over 38 percent – the highest since 1996 in the Lok Sabha elections.
Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri seats will go to polls on May 20 and May 25 respectively in the 7-phase Lok Sabha polls.
It will be interesting if Amit Shah announces support for any candidate in the Baramulla and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats.
The BJP leaders said the Home Minister's visit to Kashmir during his busy election schedule in Srinagar will be hugely significant.
