Anantnag attack: Woman succumbs, toll reaches 8 dead

A woman yatri from Gujarat, injured in an attack on July 10 in south Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway succumbed in a hospital here early this morning.
With this a total of eight Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 18 others were injured in the militant attack on their bus which was on way to Jammu from Srinagar.
Official said that a woman yatri Lalita, resident of Gujarat, who was critically wounded in the attack, succumbed to her injuries in the S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here.
She was hit by a bullet in the abdomen.
However, the condition of another woman injured Pushpa, also a resident of Gujarat was stable.
Other injured besides the bodies of pilgrims were airlifted to Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Gunmen attack on the yatris evoked massive condemnation in the Kashmir valley and other parts of the country and abroad.
However, despite the attack, thousands of yatries from different parts of the country are paying obeisance at the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas daily.
