As part of Army's continued endeavour towards service to the nation a medical cum veterinary camp was organised on 6 October 2019 by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Paribal Tekri under the aegis of Watlab sector for the population of Kiatsan and surroundings village. The aim of this camp was to reach out to the people of remote areas, cater to their medical problems, spread awareness on health and hygiene and also to provide veterinary care to the livestock of local villages.
The team of doctors for the camp consisted of four army doctors including one lady doctor and veterinary doctor along with attendance from civil administration. The camp provided medical assistance to over 633 patients including men, women and children. Over 181 livestock were also treated by the Army veterinary team. Apart from treating patients the doctors also guided the locals on basic mandatory hygiene and sanitation, health awareness and precautionary measures to be taken in the cold weather conditions. Free medicines and free blood sugar tests were also provided by the medical camp. In addition to the above civic actions the army unit also organized refreshment for all the attendees.
The camp lasted for more than six hours and beneficiaries were very grateful to receive the medical and veterinary facilities at their doorstep. In the words of Shahnaz Begam, the Sarpanch of Kiatsan “Everyone is grateful to Army for its continued support and organising such a mega event in Kiatsan”. The Sarpanch as well as the villagers lauded the efforts towards the ultimate goal of bringing peace and harmony and development in such remote areas. The camp reaffirmed the strong bond between the the Awaam and Army.
