Army today paid rich tributes to its gallant soldier Naik Chandra Singh who had attained martyrdom yesterday during an operation in Bandipora.
Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the valour and sacrifice of the Late soldier in a solemn ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment. Naik Chandra Singh had been critically injured in an encounter in Naidkhai, Bandipora that resulted in the elimination of two heavily armed terrorists on 25 Nov 2016. He was evacuated to the Military Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injures. The martyr is survived by his wife and two young Daughters.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the Army, the Corps Commander assured that all necessary assistance will be provided to them in the future. The mortal remains of Naik Chandra Singh will be flown for last rites to his native place where he will be laid to rest with full military honours.
