Avalanche warning issued for 3 Kashmir districts

The J&K Disaster Management Authority issued low to medium level avalanche warning in Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts for the next 24 hours.
"People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas," it said.
The warning comes as the middle and higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir are set to receive moderate to heavy snowfall in the next 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.
The Srinagar station of Indian Meteorological Department said that the rains and snowfall will intensify during Tuesday night and on Wednesday.
“Rain/Snow very likely to intensify as the day progresses with main activity later tonight (Tuesday night) and tomorrow. Heavy snowfall is very likely over middle & higher reaches," it said.
Parts of Jammu and Kashmir experienced intermittent snow and rain including Srinagar on Tuesday evening disrupting normal activities.
Srinagar and its adjoining areas are experiencing intermittent rain amid forecast of rain/snow very likely to intensify as the day progresses with main activity later Tuesday night and Wednesday. Heavy snowfall is very likely over the middle and higher reaches of J&K, the MeT office said.
