In order to enhance the sports activities among the youth, 7-A side football tournament "HABBA KHATOON FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT" was organized by Awantipora Police with the inaugural match played on 20th September at Habba Khatoon Football ground Chandhara Pampore between Ithad FC Pampore and Habba Khatoon FC Chandhara in which SSP Awantipora was chief guest who formally announced the said tournament.

32 teams participated in the said tournament consisting of total 352 players and 30 matches were played on daily basis. Out of the 32 participating teams, 15 teams belongs to Police District Awantipora.
In order to boost the sports activities in the area, SSP Awantipora Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS distributed uniforms among all the players of 15 participating teams of Police District Awantipora and 01 football among each team.
Moreover on the request of the participating players four illumination lights for installation in the stadium has been distributed among the organizers and 01 water point has been installed in the said football ground at Chandhara.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Awantipora said that sports is very important for overall development of an individual as it keeps us away from negative thoughts as well as is important to channelize the youth energy in right direction. SSP Awantipora also said that good sports spirit and competitive spirit is important for individual and Nation development.
He also expressed that Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to provide platform for sports activities for the youth and more such activities will be organized in future in Police District Awantipora.
