Bandipora children showcase martial arts skills

The Army has been at the forefront in its efforts to promote sporting culture in the valley. With the aim of bringing-in sports activities for the youth, Paribal Tekri Army Camp (under the aegis of Watlab Military Garrison) had conducted Martial Arts Training/ Coaching Camp from 02 November to 04 December 2019, at Delhi Public School International.
The martial arts training faculty which comprised of five instructors from Ali Sports Academy, Bandipora provided extensive training in basic martial arts to over 100 youth, including girls. The primary aim of the camp was to motivate the youth to play sports and live a healthy life, identify the budding talent amongst the youngsters and subsequently tap their potential by providing them an appropriate platform. The Camp initiated the children into the field of martial arts so that they may pursue the sports. Sports kit and equipment were also provided during the camp.
The Camp terminated on 04 December 2019, with a closing ceremony which was graced by Commanding Officer, Paribal Tekri and other civil dignitaries. The skills and enthusiasm exhibited by the participants during the camp has been phenomenal and was appreciated all present. The participants expressed their gratitude as this was a big step towards encouraging self-sufficiency and skill development amongst the youth. During the Ceremony, a cultural programme was also organized to bring forth rich culture of Kashmir and all meritorious trainees were felicitated.
Mr Fasil Ali, Chairman, Ali Sports Academy, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Army for organizing the training camp for the second consecutive year. He mentioned that this training camp has not only channelised the strength and energy of the youth but also motivated them to work hard in their respective disciplines and strive to win medals at National and International level.
