Bihar governor Ram Nath Kovind is NDA’s Presidential nominee: Amit Shah

Bihar governor Ram Nath Kovind is the BJP-led NDA’s nominee for the post of President of India, said senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Monday.
made the announcement after a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary board earlier in the day.
Kovind is likely to file his papers on June 23.
“There has been no discussion yet on names for vice president,” the BJP president said.
Shah said PM Modi talked with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi as well as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and informed them about the NDA’s choice.
“Now they (Congress and others) will discuss among themselves and decide,” Shah added.
“Kovindji has worked tirelessly for the Dalit community and the backward castes,” Shah said.
Kovind was born on October 1, 1945, at Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh. He is a BCom and LLB graduate from Kanpur University.
The NDA’s Presidential nominee was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh in 1994-2000 and 2000-2006. He is an advocate by profession and practices in Delhi.
