BJP Municipality Committee Chairman for Devsar Block of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district allegedly created a scene and rebuked officials including District Development Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner Development Kulgam for not recommending his name for the award as he claimed that he has worked ‘hard’ during Covid-19 pandemic.
Large number of Sarpanchs, Panchs, and Municipal Committee members from Jammu and Kashmir arrived here at SKICC Srinagar to interact with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
On the sidelines of interaction, BJP Municipality Committee Chairman for Devsar Mushtaq Ahmed created ruckus for not nominating him for the Covid-19 award. Insiders said that Mushtaq Ahmed created ugly scenes and accused District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz and ACD Kulgam, Muhammad Imran Khan of ‘bias and fraud’.
“This BJP man shouted at DDC and ACD Kulgam in front of all. He was claiming that he worked very hard in this Covid-19 pandemic and was expecting an award but the ACD Kulgam didn’t nominate him,” said a Panch from Devsar Block.
Another Panch said that ACD can recommend names under Panchayat Raj Institution while BJP member Mushtaq Ahmed’s name can’t be recommended as he is part of Municipal Committee.
He said BJP Municipality Committee Chairman stooped low and his actions embarrassed officials from Kulgam district including District Development Commissioner.
An official wishing anonymity said that Independent Block Development Chairman from Pahlu Block of Kulgam, Javaid Ahmed Shaksaz was supposed to receive the award, but it was cancelled after the ugly scenes created by BJP Municipality Committee Chairman. “We didn’t hand over the award Mr Shaksaz as it would have created trouble. Shaksaz has done a fabulous job in the Covid-19 pandemic without publicizing his efforts,” the official said.
