Exactly 26 years before; Charari Sharief the Grandeur Spiritual, Administrative, cultural and political centre found its worst when it was rendered to debris in 1995 divesting it from sacred remains aboded in the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine, the spiritual bliss of Khanqah -e- Moula along with its architectural ambience, the radially structured market outlay on one hand and political vibrancies, consciousness and activeness on the other none of which could be rebundled till now.

Politically being so sensitive and vital is exemplified by the fact that this constituency is uninterruptedly contributing a cabinet rank minister from last 30 years to which is added this uniqueness that two cabinet rank ministers at same time from this constituency formed the part of the government. conversely, since 1995 destruction, in India five P.Ms changed, In J & K six C.Ms came and went along with five governors but the blot on governance is that sanctum sanctorum of shrine and mosque could not be completed and is still in non-accomplishing mode. This means that even five, five year plans could not complete two vital buildings. By now a single dome has taken more than four years and is still not completed. Toilet in temporary attire standing right before the sacred shrine, filthy surroundings created by encroachments by the snack sellers ,shabby, dirty and unusable parks, drain less sewerage flow, absence of tourist shelters for lodging and taking dinners and lunches spit on the performance of the departments concerned.
Being a vital centre Charari Sharif had developed into a shopping buzz providing livelihood to hundreds of youth but the construction of shopping complex though started a decade ago doesn’t grow above single story. Its location just next to shrine was already debatable and snail space construction has added more to the debate. There are vivid examples of youth who economically thrived on their shops before 1995 are living the life of penury.
Encroachments are going unreported and not screened by the authorities. This is to the limit that at some places government buildings are encroached and at some places private property has been erected over government plinths. New Bus stand is more a nuisance to the residents than a facility to passengers.
A tourist circuit which could have been envisaged and developed by connecting Charar-Sharief,Pakherpora,Yousmarg and Nilnag is a non-existent entity and in limbo. Though, Yousmarg Development Authority logo shows an expression of yousmarg and Charari Sharif shrine's crown meaning composite development of the area but so far YDA seems to play no such role .Charari Sharif Development Project, Housing Department,Municipal Committee,PHE, R&B and many such departments are in existence in the town. This would give the impression that there would be flurry of developmental projects but ,unfortunately these departments have confused each other’s work to the extent that a chaos is the only outcome. Clubbing of all these departments into the creation of a special sub-division with ultimate powers was already suggested and thereupon accepted by the authorities but nothing so far has precipitated on ground.
police station in the North,Tehsil office in south, Patwar Khana in east ,PHE office in west court in some other direction and scattered departments draw sweat out of people who need to approach these offices and many days are wasted for a half an hour work ,had these offices been put at one Place. DPR for Mini secretariat had already been prepared but what has stopped the work on the same is an incomprehensible puzzle. Public transport has vanished from the town which was the center of confluence of all sorts of transport before 1995 and passengers had the choice to use as per economy and taste but by now it is monopoly with hardly any choice with passengers and authorities are hardly moved.
sports has received a spurt in these years except this town where a commodious stadium is present and events are held but lack of facilities, grass less ground, waterless building, pavilion less arena is a question mark yet to ne answered.
Being a spiritual place and centre of Rishism ,this town had to develop into a centre of intellect which required high tech Libraries,a Shekhul Alam (R.A) centre and the ancillary facilities which could provide the ambience and feel of an educational center and the place could have developed into spiritual tourist destination in real sense but the eye which could have envisaged this vision seems to be dream.
In 1990's,they say Charari Sharief along with Katra had to be developed as Model Town. Thank God we are comparable with Katra in having a Heli-pad, rest gives a due shame. From sacred Vaishnov Devi funds they created a state of art and prestigious university and we in the land of the best educationist of the soil I,e Sheikh Noor-Ud-Din Noorani (R.A) had to protest and take the route of more than one month’s strike to get a college and upgrade a high school. By declaring Charari Sharif a Model Town, they had already humiliated the town planning but insult was added to the injury by declaring it a Satellite Town post 1995 when the reality was that neither they aimed to develop it into a satellite town nor they knew what a satellite town stands for.
For minor civic amenities people have to come on roads .Recent example is of the strike call given by traders union against poor electricity faced never before. They say some power line is coming from. Somewhere ,but the same line is invisible from last two years. Examples of administrative poverty are more and aggravating with no respite.
Charari Sharif , they say before 1995 was the center of political and administrative Vedanta but post 1995 it has turned into space of vandalism. I can gauge this only that Fire of 1995 has not only burnt the town as civilization but it has robbed it of political unity, consciousness and conscience thereby, reducing it to real debris. Thus the rubbled civilization was never rebuilt-structurally, culturally, politically, administratively,spritually and what not ?
