Chinar Corps celebrated International Women Equality Day by releasing a music video ‘Beti’ by famous Kashmiri singer and composer Waqar Khan.
The occasion was celebrated in an event to commemorate the achievements of Kashmiri women in various professions and roles. The gathering recalled the historical iconic women of Kashmir like Kota Rani, Lal Ded and Habba Khatton. Dr Syed Sehrish Asghar, Director DIPR, Ms. Nighat Ara, Addl SP Security ITBP and many other women achievers of Kashmir graced the occasion. This included prominent media journalists of Kashmir.
A musical evening was also planned, where in guests, Army personnel and their families enjoyed the melodious renditions by Bilal, Irfan, Asif and Waqar Khan.
Speaking at the event, Dr Syed Sehrish Asghar, IAS while citing her own journey and challenges exhorted the girls to dream big and work relentlessly towards realising it. She talked of need for self-confidence, grit and a vision to do something big. She said that the sky is the limit, if the girls wish to achieve.
Gen DP Pandey, GOC 15 Corps felicitated the guests and performers, he later spoke at length on various Kashmiri women who have led from the front and shaped history of Kashmir. He said that men by nature are impulsive and can be easily misled into actions detriment to family or society, while women are the nurturers, they are wiser when it comes to deciding what is best for her family and progeny, and hence the society and nation.
He shared ultimately it is the women who decide how a society and nation moves. He counted on the women of Kashmir to expose and oppose the duplicitous who misguide our youth while their own progeny flourish. He said “I sincerely hope and pray that the youth of Kashmir – boys and girls grow in an environment of happiness, peace and progress. Something that was beautifully presented in the music video we released today”. For Kashmir - an environment that respects and nurtures women equality has been true for centuries. We hope to get back to those roots.
