As part of celebration of 70 years of India-China diplomatic ties, Chinese martial arts display will be the highlight of the closing ceremony of the ongoing third edition of Khelo India Youth Games here.
Addressing a press conference here today, Khelo India CEO Avinash Joshi said, "The closing ceremony will be as grand an affair as the opening ceremony. A display of Chinese martial arts will be the high point of the closing ceremony."
Eight martial arts experts from China shall be performing, as per confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs.
This display will be in line with events planned for celebrating 70 years of India-China diplomatic relations.
Joshi further said the closing ceremony on January 22 will also have performances by Bollywood and local Assam artists.
Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Sports minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Food Processing minister Rameswar Teli, other ministers and dignitaries will be part of the closing ceremony, which will also be broadcast live by Star Sports and Doordarshan.
With only three days left for the Games to conclude, the Khelo India CEO urged the local people to attend and enjoy the sports, especially with the home team putting up a good performance.
He also thanked the media for their encouraging coverage of the Khelo India Games.
Over 12,000 people, including 5600 athletes, from 37 states and union territories have been a part of this edition of the Khelo India Games, which started on January 10 last.
