Over 80% declared successful by BOSE
The J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Monday declared the results of the Class 12 examinations with over eighty percent students passing the exam.
According to officials, girls edged past boys by over four points in the results declared nearly two months after the exam concluded in Kashmir.
Girls also secured the maximum number of top positions in the results declared on Monday morning.
The data released by the JKBOSE officials shows that 46,987 of the 58,397 candidates passed the annual regular examination in Kashmir.
Officials said girls scored a pass percentage of 82.72 % while as boys were relatively lower at 78.46 % succeeding in the examination.
As per official figures, a total of 30,960 boys and 27,437 girls appeared in the examination out of which 24, 291 and 22,696 passed respectively.
Girls also performed better than boys in terms of the top positions across the streams.
In Science stream, as many as 19 students shared the top three slots out of whom only four are boys.
Likewise, in Commerce stream, five girls shared the first three positions while as the top slots in Home Science and Arts streams have been bagged by three girls in each stream, the JKBOSE data reveal.
The BOSE figures show that as many as 141 girls figure among the top 178 position holders across streams.
Various political parties extended congratulatory messages to the successful students.
"Party president Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah congratulate Class 12 students especially girl students who have bagged nearly 90 percent of top ranks in results declared today.
It clearly demonstrates, given a chance, women excel in every field.
Happy Women's Day," National Conference spokesman Imran Dar said.
J-K Congress president Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari were among a host of politicians who congratulated the students for their successes in the examination.
