Connect Mawar people, construct a bridge on Hardiker Nallah

April 22, 2019 | Mehraj ud din Mir/ Mawer

Since my childhood epoch I always heard the name of Hardiker nallah, a sought of death bowel for local community living here. This water channel is a fissure between Mawer and Qaziabad through which only a single wooden log is there to connect the people living both the sides. Looking forward to my personal experience I also need to use this log for crossing the said water channel because of my relatives living the other side. Since my childhood I saw this lone wooden log functioning as a bond for people to visit both the sides.
Occupants of both the areas tried to highlight this matter with higher authorities of the district administration but no action was taken till date.
Besides our need to visit the opposite side areas and to gather our essential supplies it badly effects our education system which forms the back bone of any nation. It also violates the freedom of education law because many of the youngsters are on the verge of giving up their higher education because the only higher secondary school with commerce stream is located on the Qaziabad.
Due to the unavailability of a bridge on the water channel and threat to life they choose not to cross the log but to stop their education.
In the last years much causality were reported from the said area. Many precious lives were lost due to the unavailability of bridge. Recently an incident happened there when a girl of minor age fell from the log and was rescued by the local people.
In a similar incident, a few years ago, two girls fell into the stream while crossing the same wooden log. While one died, the other was rescued by the people.
The locals have accused the former MLA Engineer Rashid for failing to get a bridge constructed on the stream.
