May 16, 2019 | BK DESK/SRINAGAR

All Contractual Teachers Association of Kashmir Division held protest Wednesday staged a protest here in Pratap Park and demands Continuation.
Demanding their regularisation under SRO-308, the protesters gathered in Press Enclave, Srinagar, and further marched towards the Governor’s office while chanting the slogans “We want regularisation” and “We want justice”.
One of the protester said, “There are around 1200 teachers which are highly qualified including 170 from Jammu. They have been asked not to attend the schools,” he said.
“We have shown 100% results in our respective institutions. By ending their contract government has snatched livelihood of hundreds of youth,” he said adding they have raised the issue with the higher authorities but to no avail.
“We are serving the Education Department from more than 15 years yet we are waiting for regularisation and implementation of Minimum Wages Act,” another protester said.
The protesters demanded the Governor’s intervention in the matter at the earliest or else they would go for an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
