Cricketer Irfan Pathan, support staff of J&K cricket team asked to leave Kashmir

August 05, 2019 | UNI/SRINAGAR

Cricketer Irfan Pathan and other support staff of Jammu and Kashmir state cricket team were asked to leave the state at the earliest in view of the advisory by the government following threat perception on Sunday.
Meanwhile, about 100 cricketers from different parts of the country, have also been asked to leave to the valley as soon as possible.
The J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) has also decided to suspend all cricketing activities, including training sessions involving players of different age groups.
Official sources said that Pathan, who is associated with Jammu and Kashmir cricket team as player cum mentor along with coach Milap Mewada and trainer Sudarshan VP will leave the valley on Sunday.
They said that JKCA has advised Pathan and other support staff to leave J&K.
People in Kashmir, particularly in the summer capital, have stocked up essential commodities and fuel, amid rumours about the deterioration of the situation, triggered by government order on Friday, asking Amarnath pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay in the valley and deployment of additional troops.
The locals were already on the edge from the last few days, after additional paramilitary companies were sent to the valley, giving rise to many theories.
