The District Road Safety Committee meeting was convened today here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav.
The meeting was attended by ACR, Varunjeet Singh Charak; SDPO Paddar/DySP Manoj Kumar; Account Officers, DC Office Imran Ahmed Kichloo; ARTO, Saleem Khan; EXEN PWD, Ravinder Kumar; ExEN PWD Marwah, Mohammad Aslam Lone, CMO, Dr M Y Mir besides other concerned functionaries.
The meeting was convened to review the action taken on the previous decisions of the District Road Safety Committee and the general condition of roads in the district.
The meeting was given an update regarding the approval of PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) Road safety works amounting to over Rs 20 crore. It was conveyed that the necessary approvals have been obtained and the commencement of the work is imminent.
The DC urged the concerned executing agencies to promptly submit the estimates for the AAA for these roads. The timely submission of estimates is crucial to initiate the implementation process without delay, ensuring that the road safety works can be taken up immediately.
In addition to this, the meeting was informed that the committee has also identified 2 sites at Chatroo and Palmar-Dungduru axis to be taken up for the installation of crash barriers under district road safety fund.
The concerned EXENs were directed to immediately submit the AAA in the office for timely processing of the installation of crash barriers.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized prioritizing these roads to enhance the safety of commuters and minimize the risk of accidents.
Furthermore, the Committee underlined the need for establishment of trauma centers in the Primary Health Centers (PHCs) of Atholi and Chatroo.
Deliberations were conducted to devise an action plan for the establishment of trauma centers in these areas. The committee recognized the significance of prompt medical assistance in case of accidents and emphasized the importance of trauma centers for providing critical care to accident victims.CMO Kishtwar was asked to look into the feasibility of trauma centres in these PHCs.
Besides, the meeting also witnessed in-depth discussions and fruitful deliberations on various other road safety-related matters. The committee members actively participated in exchanging ideas and exploring strategies to enhance road safety measures across the district.
DC expressed his commitment to ensuring road safety and emphasized the importance of implementing the decisions taken during the meeting. He underlined the significance of crash barriers in minimizing accidents and highlighted the need to establish trauma centers to provide timely medical assistance to accident victims.
