Dearth of vehicles affects SMC's DTD service

The insiders have also belied the claims of the SMVC that it was collecting 70 metric tons of waste from different areas of the city but, according to them, practice not even one metric ton is collected.
The SMC, sources said, even hired the services of NGOs but it did not help much.
Pertinent to mention waste segregation is mandatory but in J&K state waste segregation is neither undertaken in Srinagar nor in Jammu city. It is done nowhere in the state. However, in selected wards of Budgam town , it was done through a private body for some time but that did not last long.
