The official mismanagement at SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina has turned its only elevator defunct giving tough times to the patients coming to the health institute.
Official sources blamed the lack of coordination between the hospital administration and its Engineering wings.
“The lift of the hospital has been non-functional for over one-week forcing patients and their attendants to use stairs which are not advisable for many of them especially the critical patients and expecting mothers,” they said.
While the administration is unmoved over the issue, patients continue to face life threat and their medical condition deteriorated.
Early this month the elevator of the hospital developed snag and hospital administration send a request to the Civil Engineering Division. However, nearly 10 days have passed no repairs has been done so far.
Except for the Orthopedics and Psychiatry, all the departments including Medicine, Chest Medicine, Pediatric and the Gynecology have their wards on the second floor of the hospital where hundreds of patients are being admitted on a daily basis.
The patients have to climb several stairs to reach the wards or the operation theaters in the upper floors. The inconvenience has left the suffering attendants up in arms against the hospital administrat
