Today we observe that almost every part of world is facing challenges like poverty, corruption, unemployment etc. And all these problems contribute together to form a new fast growing problem that is drug addiction and trafficking. According to world health organization by the year 2020 mental and substance use disorders will surpass all physical diseases and will be a measure cause of disability worldwide.
At least, two lakh people continue to die every single year due to illicit drugs.

Youth the future of nation have been rapidly addicted to drug, now a day’s Illicit Drug or Alcohol, Cannabis, Heroin, Brown sugar even shoes polish is being used by future pillars of our nation in order to create their mental disabilities. Socio-demographic variables of 189 out-patients with drug abuse who were registered at the Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases, Srinagar were studied. Most of the drug abusers were male, the majority (57.2%) being in the 26-35 age group. Cannabis was the commonest substance abused, followed by heroin. Cannabis abusers had the longest duration of drug use but the lowest rate of drug dependence (29.9%) and lowest rate of multiple drug abuse (6.1%), whereas heroin abusers had the highest rate to drug dependence (88.8%) and highest rate of multiple drug abuse (83.4%). More than 50% of drug abusers had impairment in health and psycho social status. Problems with relatives or acquaintances led to treatment contact in about 62% of patients. Other socio-demographic variables such as marital, educational or occupational status did not reveal any significant difference.
Now a day’s every responsible citizen is deeply grieved and shocked over drug menace throughout the valley. A child of 12 years and an older man of 80 years is equally worried about this new threat, which subsequently may lead to social disorder and economic instability in overall society.
From separatist Leaders to Main stream Politicians; from school going student to Religious preacher everyone is worried about this Truman. But the need is how to overcome and tackle this situation.
We took measure for other things either genuine or un genuine things, we assemble together to achieve the cause either by making pressure groups.
Mainly, Student of both sexes are equally addict to drug, but no one care everyone has put the veil over his/her eyes no one is taking any measure in order to chase drug abusers. Drug abuse throughout the valley is even now a day’s a topic of those traditional meetings which are going on, at shops but this does not mean we are worrying about this, we should not assume that they (drug abusers) are not coming under our blood relations we should assume this thing we should act accordingly as a responsible citizens. We can also make pressure group at our own levels in order to teach them a lesson, we can also setup counseling cells whereby we can guide our kin’s what is right and what is wrong.
Now a day’s social media is showing much activeness over the issue of drug abuse. How our child’s are being made the lovers of drug and how their Right to live is being snatched from them, in few cases they are being used as a means or tools of drug transportation. This is totally in violation with right to life as provided by Constitution of a state under article 21, how right to life is snatched. On the under hand state is claiming that state is a true guardian of human rights, How can state be silent when it comes to human rights violation?
State also should take prevention measures as such the generation may be protected.
Police is doing his job by arresting drug peddlers during their routine Checking Points (naka) at different places throughout the valley but this thing is not an only alternative to overcome from this disaster.
Most of substances are coming from cross border how is it possible when we have a well number of security forces of different companies deployed there at border. This is a bit irony nation and administration should take a review of this??
We have divided ourselves in sectorial conflicts. Let’s keep sectorial conflicts a part and perform the duty and responsibility of a good citizen otherwise it may be too late. Let’s become the part of the voice of those NGO’s who already have raised their voice to make Jammu and Kashmir a drug and liquor free state, here I mean Kashmir Youth Foundation Surviving under International Karwan I Islami International Headed By Allama Moulana Ghulam Rasool Hami,Who already have raised the voice and had started a campaigning also are defending a case in supreme court and also had putted a bill in both the houses of state legislature in order to seek ban on sale and purchase of Drugs And Liquor.
Let’s develop 90’s oneness again let’s assume they are wards of others if you’ll not let your own child’s to become drug abusers how ’ll you let the parcel of future to become the drug dominated ones. Let’s imagine if our Future is totally dominated by drug abusers where will society let towards?’ll you find any good and responsible citizen throughout the valley whom you are going to handover the nation.
Let’s Wake Up or It May Be Too Late……..
