Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Shalteng Srinagar, intercepted a Scooty bearing registration number JK15-5187 driven by Shayaa Shakil Bhat son of Shakil Ahmad Bhat resident of HMT Srinagar. During checking officers were able to recover 300 grams of Charas from his possession.
He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Parimpora where he remains in custody. Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No 128/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Parimpora and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
Srinagar Police arrests 02 Butchers for selling meat at exorbitant rates
July 07: Acting tough against the shopkeepers for selling items on the inflated rates, Police in Srinagar have arrested two butchers for selling meat at exorbitant rates.
Officers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Harwan alongwith CAPD officials have arrested two butchers identified as Abdul Rashid Mir son of Ghulam Ahmed Mir resident of Harwan and Mohammad Ramzan Mir son of Khazir Mohd Mir resident of Danihama Hrwan for selling meat at exorbitant rates.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 54/2020 and 55/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at PS Harwan and further investigation into the cases have been initiated.
Police have requested the traders and shopkeepers not to indulge in overpricing, black marketing, hoarding or any violation of essential commodities otherwise strict action under law will be taken against the violators.
