A one day ‘Drug De-Addiction,’ awareness Program was held in Degree College Pampore campus on Thursday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi shared multiple experiences with the students and guests and laid stress on to be pro-active while coming across any drug case in their respective localities. “We must raise our voice against drug menace,” he said.
"I have seen families getting ruined, relations getting spoiled and at the end, either Drug addicts land in rehabilitation centres, or Hospitals. It is never too late to quit. I am thankful to Principal Degree College Pampore for organizing this awareness programme and we are ready to go anywhere when it comes to the welfare of the society and youth in particular." Dr Balkhi as per KNT said adding drug don’t have borders.
Principal Degree College Pampore Dr Seema while speaking said, "we organized this awareness program given the growing drug menace in society and we want to conduct more and more awareness programs in future to sensitize our younger generation and we want the message to get disseminated at a larger level among the masses."
On the occasion Dr Muzaffar Ganie Clinical Psychologist highlighted the growing drug cases in Kashmir. While addressing the students and other guests he said the need of the hour is to keep a vigil on young people at homes, parents should keenly observe the behaviour of their children.
Dr Saleem HoD Community Medicine GMC Srinagar said that it is high time to figure out who are the peddlers and who have become addicts and accordingly a rehabilitation program should be framed and as a part of the society ‘we should all contribute towards the elimination of this drug menace.’ (KNT)
