Srinagar: (UNI) District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, Dr Shahid Choudhary requested people to avoid hoarding and panic shopping as enough stock of essentials are available in the district.
Reacting to long queues at Petrol Pumps in the city, he said we have fuel available in the town for at least one month.
About a notice issued by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar that class work of all departments stands suspended till further order, Dr Choudhary said this is apparently a miscommunication.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter he wrote “ In #Srinagar district we have sufficient stocks of all essentials including food, fuels and medicines. Roads are open, replenishment is routine. People are requested to avoid hoarding and panic shopping
“There is a lot people are asking but all I can say is that we have fuel stocks available in town for at least one month”, he further tweeted.
Dr Choudhary in another tweet said “In wake of unstoppable rumours, heads of all institutions were advised in the day to remain careful. No advise/instructions for shutting down any institution. This NIT notice is apparently a miscommunication”.
Immediately after Principal Secretary Home Shaleen Kabra issued an advisory asking pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay and leave Kashmir, people withdraw cash from Automated Teller Machines (ATM), rushed for panic buying of essentials and long queues could be seen at petrol pumps in the city till late in the night.
