Ex PM Manmohan Singh to chair policy planning group for J&K set up by Sonia

Amid deteriorating conditions in the Kashmir valley, the Congress today constituted a policy planning group for Jammu and Kashmir headed by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and comprising veteran party leaders Karan Singh, P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni. According to AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, ”Congress president Sonia Gandhi has constituted a policy planning group for Jammu and Kashmir under the chairmanship of Dr Manmohan Singh.”

The nine-member group also comprises Rajya Sabha MP Karan Singh, former Home Minister P Chidambaram, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, General Secretary incharge for Jammu and Kashmir Ambika Soni, Jammu and Kashmir PCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir, CLP leader Rigzin Zora, Tariq Hameed Karra and Shyam Lal Sharma.

The Congress has expressed its concern over the deterioration of situation in Jammu and Kashmir as evidenced by the violence during the recent by-election to the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat
