Exorbitant' increase in electricity bills shock Srinagar parts

Scores of residents of Buchpora and its adjoining localities were shocked after going through their electricity bills of October 2020, wherein both load agreements and bill amount has been raised without seeking the consent of the consumers.

Sarfi Colony, Gulberg Colony and Illahi Bagh, Firdous colony , Proper Buchpora and many other areas have witnessed 'Exorbitant increase in the electricity bills.
From 1 KW to 1.25 KW in a number of cases besides it has also been raised from 1.25 to 1.75 KW or more. The bill amount has seen an increase of Rs.300 to Rs 400 hundred per bill.
The residents stated that many consumers who were paying 700 to 800 per month now have to pay Rs 1100 to 1200 per month.
The residents through the President Masjid Committee have appealed to the Power Development Department that they should revisit their decision especially in these tough times of economic crisis and prevalent global pandemic of Coronavirus.
They have hoped realistic and compassionate measures would be taken by the authorities in this matter.
