Fire breaks out in Parliament

A minor fire broke out in room no 50 of Parliament this evening, a fire official said here.He said that a call was received at around 2055 hrs about the incident and immediately, 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.The official said the flames were doused at around 2135 hrs. However, the exact cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained.ML MP Ahamed collapses during Prez address, in serious condition at RML hospitalNew Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Former Union minister and Indian Union Muslim League leader E Ahamed today collapsed during President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament and is in a serious condition at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, sources said. The sources said Mr Ahamed collapsed soon after he took his seat at the Central Hall of Parliament. He was provided first aid by the Parliament staff. Thereafter, he was rushed to the hospital, with doctors monitoring his condition on the way.Hospital sources said Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited RML Hospital to inquire about Mr Ahamed’s health condition.An MP from Kerala’s Mallapuram, Mr Ahamed was a Minister of State for External Affairs in the previous UPA government.
