A block of Government residential quarters in Chanapora Srinagar, managed by the Estates department, caught fire on Saturday evening. The three-storeyed building with a pacca GCI sheet roof housed six quarters, two of which were affected by the blaze on the ground floor, officials said.
An official from F&ES department said that cause of the fire is currently under investigation, preliminary reports suggest extensive damage to the affected quarters, including severe damage to the ceiling, doors, windows, wooden paneling, electric wiring, refrigerator, washing machine, bedding, furnishing, and other household goods.
He said, one quarter was fully damaged, while another quarter suffered partial damage to its ceiling, wooden paneling, electric wiring, bedding, furnishing, and household goods.
