A grand programme was organised by All Kashmir Folk Artists Association here today at Tagore Hall Srinagar. In addition to Kashmiri culture lovers Former deputy Speaker LLC JK Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, DDC chairman Budgam Nazir Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ali Khan, Nisar Naseem, G M sofi, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, NSD representative Guzar Ganaie and other dignitaries were present during the occasion.
The occasion was marked by captivating performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir. As the association embarks on its journey, it aims to preserve and promote the traditional folk arts of the region, fostering a vibrant community of artists.
The event was held with the participation of over 60 folk theatre cum Dhambali Dance groups who also designed a Managing Body of association. The association made Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat was elected as Chairman of the association, Farooq Ahmad Shah as deputy chairman, Fayaz Ahmad Rather as General secretary, Manzoor Ahmad Shah as joint Secretary, Manzoor Ahmad bhat as cashier, Nazir Ahmad Gulgami as Organiser and Mohd Dilawar Bhat as patron.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat said that he would work for the young artists, for the development of folk art forms and traditional heritage of Kashmir. He further stated that ‘Culture is a binding factor that ties people together’. Our culture and tradition is the face of yourself and it’s our moral responsibility to preserve it.
