Kashmir : Forces burst teargas shells to quell protesters in Pulwama

Security forces burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators in a south Kashmir’s Pulwama village, where a search operation was launched against militants today, official sources said.
They said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at village Trichal in Pulwama following a tip off about the presence of militants.
However, when the security forces were sealing the area, people in the nearby localities, mostly youths, hit the streets raising slogans.
Meanwhile,complete shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley on Saturday against attempts to abrogate Article 35A of Indian Constitution.
The call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. It was also supported by traders, fruit growers, and transporters.
All shops, business establishments, and educational institutions are closed while traffic is off the roads across Kashmir.
The government has deployed troops and police personnel in strength across the Kashmir Valley to prevent people from staging protests.
Authorities have imposed restrictions in old city parts of Srinagar. Barricades have been erected at the entry and exit points.
