Noted historian, writer, jurist, poet and novelist Ghulam Nabi Gowhar was remembered today on his fourth death anniversary here.
A galaxy of eminent writers, scholars, poets, academicians, journalists and members of civil society attended the event to mark the occasion and paid glowing tributes to late Gowhar.
On the occasion, the Gowhar Memorial Award for 2022 was conferred on well known film maker Mohiuddin Mirza.
The function was organised by Kashmir Markaz Adab-w-Saqafat Chrar-i Sharief.
A Mehfil-e-Nat-w-manqabat marked the occasion which was presided over by. writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Atish while former Superintendent A G Malik was the guest of honour. Naat Khawan Moulana Abul Hassan, Saima Ashraf, and Ghulam Muhammad Dilshad recited soulful naat-w-manqabats.
Prof Bashar Bashir presided over the second segment of the event during which thought provoking papers were read on the contribution of Gowhar. President Adbi Markaz Kamraz Muhammad Amin Bhat, former Director General Doordarshan and Secretary Cultural Academy Rafique Masoodi and Ranjoor Tilgami shared the presidium.
Former SSP Ghulam Ahmad Gulshan and Haji Ali Muhammad were present on the presidium.
During third segment of the function, mementos and shawls were presented to personalities for their outstanding contribution in socio-cultural fields including Abul Hassan Farooqi, Prof Bashar Bashir, Mushtaq Mehram, Haji Ali Mohd, Shabnam Tilgami, Mohd Amin Bhat, Dr Gulzar Ahmad Rather, Ab Rashid Shaad and Maqsood Ahmad head Shaherbeen programme of All India Radio.
Eminent writers including Dhanam Tilgami, General Secretary Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Majeed Majazi, Wahab Cultural Society Hakim Shakir Shafi, president Halwa Adab Sonawari, Khursheed Qureshi, Nisar Naseem, Azhar Hajini, Ghulam Mohd Mir Kalai, Haris Rashid, Dr Raza also graced the occasion and paid tributes to Gowhar.
President KMAS Dr Gazanfar Ali delivered welcome address while Haji Ali Muhammad presented vote of thanks.
Secretary KMAS Inaayat Gul conducted the proceedings of the seminar efficiently in his style
