Girl dies in Parimpora accident, police blames stone-pelting for her death

Police on Tuesday said that a girl was killed when she was hit by a vehicle near Parimpora but blamed stone-pelting for her death.
A police spokesman said here, “The stone pelting led to death of a young girl today morning when she along with her sister was hit by a vehicle near Parimpora Srinagar. The vehicle was moving backwards and hit the girls as it came under stone pelting by miscreants.”
The police spokesman said the girls were identified as Ms Fozia and Ms Nadia, daughters of Mohammad Sidiq Lone, resident of Gulbagh. “They were hit by a cream colour Scorpio near Rogan Gali Parimpora. The driver while moving his vehicle backwards hit the girls as his vehicle was stoned by the miscreants early morning,” he claimed.
“The girls were critically injured in the incident. Both the injured were shifted to hospital where elder sister namely Fozia succumbed to her injuries. A case FIR number 222/16 has been registered and investigation has been taken up,” said the police.
However, according to some witnesses, the driver of the vehicle got panicked when he saw youths turning back vehicles at some distance and during that course the girls came under his vehicle. Reportedly, the driver of the Scorpio fled from the spot and there was no mention about his arrest by police in the statement.(GNS)
