Scores of NEET candidates on Thursday accused government for not considering Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate of 10% reservation quota due to which the students are falling out of selection list despite the quota being implemented in every other state across India.
The students alleged earlier BOPEE had issued notice that EWS category shall not be considered during the 1st round of counselling as Govt is yet to notify the same therefore considering the EWS candidates as OM regardless State Administrative Council approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill 2019 stating to provide 10% reservation to candidates belonging to EWS category.
“BOPEE has not considered the EWS certificate for the 1st round of counselling citing a reason for the government not notifying about the same while state administrative council has approved the bill for the 10% reservation quota, despite it being considered in all other states of India,” one of the students said.
Another student said that, “Although Tehsildar has issued us the EWS certificate we are being deprived of this benefit which is quite injustice we are demanding BOPEE to consider EWS certificate and mop-up round of counselling.”
Chairman BOPEE Muhammad Ashraf Bukhari said, “As of now we have not received any such notice from the government to consider the EWS certificate, the only addition of seats will not matter, the constitutional amendment is not applicable to J&K so far we can’t do anything unless government won’t frame proper law for the said issue.”
