Committee to submit report by Apr 10
The J&K administration on Saturday has set up a committee to probe illegal appointments in Health and Medical Education department.
The committee has been set up to probe 2274 and other illegal appointments in the department, as per the recommendation of the Audit and Inspection department.
According to an official order, the committee will be headed by director finance H&ME with four others as members.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of the committee to monitor the exercise of identifying and revisiting the illegal appointments in Health Department as reported by Audit and Inspection Department and all other illegal appointments,” reads the order.
The committee has been directed to take a policy decision once for all to settle the issue by applying a common yard sticks to 2274 employees. It will also take a decision against the officers and officials, who were involved in the illegal appointments.
Director Finance H&ME will be its chairman, while Additional Secretary to the Government H&ME (HRM), Additional Secretary Department (Law) H&ME, Under Secretary to the Government H&ME (HRM) and section officer, H&ME (HRM) will be its members.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within 30 days.
The decision to probe the appointments comes at a time when the administration has launched a sweeping drive against corruption in the UT’s primary recruitment agency JKSSB which is in the line of fire for leaking exam papers to aspirants, prompting the admin to hand over the probe to the CBI.
After handing over investigations of the paper leak in J&K Police’s Sub Inspector to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the J&K government has widened the scrutiny to other exams conducted by Services Selection Board (SSB).
According to reports, the government is scrutinising other exams conducted by the SSB through a Bangalore based agency named Merit Track. There are fears that question papers of other exams conducted by the agency might have got leaked.
While the final selection list in Sub Inspectors written test examination held in March has already been cancelled, sources said the exams for Financial Accounts Assistants (FAAs) and JE Civil, also conducted in March last year, are also being scrutinised. The agency has also been barred from conducting any exam till the probe is over.
“We have suspicions that the examinations held in March were not conducted fairly and therefore the process of FAA and JE Civil examinations is also being scrutinised. Once the probe is done, the report will be submitted to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha,” sources said.
