Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday stressed the importance of maintaining discipline amongst the functionaries of Jammu and Kashmir bank to nurture transparency and accountability.
Mr Malik said this while interacting with newly appointed interim chairman of J&K Bank R K Chibber, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
He said Mr Chibber met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The Governor and Mr Chibber discussed several important issues pertaining to the efficient functioning of the bank.
The Governor urged Mr Chibber to ensure close monitoring of the fiscal health of the Bank.
He also stressed the high importance of maintaining discipline amongst its functionaries to nurture transparency and accountability.
The shares of J&K bank dropped by 20 per cent on Monday morning after the government removed its chairman Parvez Ahmad and appointed its executive president Mr Chibber, as an interim chairman, on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which is looking into allegations of fraudulent appointments in the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, raided the financial institution’s corporate headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday and Sunday.
