We have disintegrated or downgraded the value of ‘Quality Education’ in our societies, especially talking about the whole valley. Be it any school, academy or any other such places where Education is imparted. We have changed the scenario of Education by making it our damn business. Well, telling you about my secluded rather god-awful ‘Empiricism’ I mean experience of my life while working with an academy in Baramulla. In older times, the essence of Education or the respect for teachers was immensely colossal and supreme.
Nobody ever dared to use abusive language or make obnoxious remarks against teachers; because they knew what teacher stands for? As to me, ‘Teacher is a Synonym for successes.’ But if we look around in detail we may find the answer; why imparting Education has now become a business? Why teachers are being treated as slaves in academies? Why they are not given the deserving wages? Such questions could come in anyone’s mind. Nowadays, people for their personal and private benefits exploit the future of our students and our teachers. Well, among those victimized teachers, you can include me also! I have confronted much disrespect, obscenity, misdemeanor, what not? I was working as winter tutor in Baramulla at ‘Hope Education Institute’. I am 25 years old lad, pursuing Masters in English Literature and the author of two well-known books. Due to some financial issues I had to join the academy to supplement my studies and to fulfill the needs of my family; but had never thought that things would go against me? I did my best to be the best! Days passed by and the behavior of our so called ‘Head’ changed whenever we were in need of money. Promises were shattered; demoralization entered; decisions were made without the consent of teachers; conspiracies came into existence etc. a person living with such predilection has no right to be in the society.
I used to travel almost 30 km to reach the institution that too in harsh and agonized winter. Many a times I came by foot through 4-5 feet snow as I belong to far-flung area where maximum snow is recorded every year. Despite that I was much determined to use my knowledge and to bring out the inner potential of my students. Yes, I was successful in my mission, but things went wrong and completely against. The term ‘Hope’ has been changed to ‘Nope’ means ‘No’. Whenever we demanded our rights the answer was ‘No’. He prevaricated throughout the course and forcibly signed an agreement from us that thing was supposed to be done in the earlier stage after our joining. Now, let’s get inside the institution... the institution consist of three rooms: one is for office use; second is used for computer classes and third, the big one is used for all those students from class 4th to 12th. Now, imagine how hard it would be for a teacher as well as students to fully understand what is being taught? Or what teachers are going to teach them? Such visuals could paralyze anyone, why not me? We all teachers were told that the institution is fully registered for tuition purposes, but in the end we came to know that it is not recognized for academics. It has registration for computer classes only.
So, here too we were betrayed, deceived! What else a teacher could do if he/she is not given any kind of respite after much hard work? Our hard earned money was snatched, we were humiliated, we were not given any courtesy etc. in fact one of our female teacher was exceedingly humiliated and defamed with false accusations. I am still amazed why and how? Our administration gave consent to such institutions without registration. Why they are given liberty to crackup the future of our students. Even though parents are also responsible for sending their children to such learning places where the concept and objective lies on ‘Materialism’ not ‘Education’. I don’t care, even we don’t if our hard earned money is snatched from us, but we care about the future of our kids. Our focus lies on that! So, we must act upon this and administration should not let anyone do such heinous sins for their personal benefits.
